DOWNER EDI
CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS THEMING, INTERIORS
When Downer EDI moved to its new corporate headquarters in Ryde, Sydney, Balarinji was engaged to create Indigenous theming for glazing, 2-D sculptural pictograms, boardroom and meeting space names and curatorial. The brief included both Aboriginal and Maori content. For the latter Balarinji worked with long time partner Maori artist Randal Leach. The Indigenous names appear as an architectural feature on wide architraves, with a key for pronunciation, and a description of the values that may apply to contemporary commerce.
